
Jazmine was a Philadelphia native was raised and born there. Pam, her mother is an ex-backup singer at Philadelphia International Records. At the age of five, old, her father got an appointment as the curator for Philadelphia's Historic Strawberry Mansion in the Strawberry Mansion section, and her family relocated to the landmark historical building. In 2005, she graduated from the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts with a vocal music major. Sullivan started singing in children's choir as a contralto before joining the adult choir only a few years afterwards. Sullivan received little exposure to secular music. She recalls when she was in her 11th year when someone was requesting her to sing for solos at church. The singer wasn't enough yet to be ready. "Then when McDonald's was hosting a competition for youngsters in the major cities and I was offered the chance to perform 'Accept what God Wills' on Showtime on the Apollo and the audience responded really well". Stevie Wonder sang her part to celebrate the birthday of her son at the age of 13. Sullivan was the first to sign her contract to Jive Records when she was fifteen. At the age of 15 She was signed by Jive Records. She recorded an entire album at Jive Records, however it wasn't made available for release. Sullivan was later removed out of the company. Missy Elliott was the producer on several tracks from the album she released as her first. Among them "Backstabbers" of Timbaland and Timbaland, which Elliott produced, was Sullivan's favorite track.
